The Under 13s played twice this week and won both their games at home against Pentyrch and Whitchurch respectively. First up was Pentyrch and they were bowled out for 48. There were 2 wickets each for Luke Sylvester, Alex Langrish, and Joe Hayer. The target was reached in 9 overs without the lost of any wickets with Alex Langrish 26 not out and Ethan McInnery 9 not out.

In the second game against Whitchurch the opposition were bowled out for 36 with 3 wickets for Luke Sylvester and 2 each for Callum Lee and Tom Edwards. The reply wasn't as straightforward as the previous game as wickets were lost at regular intervals, but finally with 6 wickets down the required total was reached. Tom Edwards finished on 18 not out

After their defeat against the Vale last week, the Under 13 s were back to winning ways in their match against Cardiff B. With a few players missing due to representative matches and other commitments it was an opportunity for others to show what they could do. Batting first the Under 13s scored 76 in their 20 overs with Alex Langrish top scoring with 26 and Ieuan Ridout getting 19. Cardiff were restricted to 49 for 8 in their reply with Luke Sylvester taking 3 wickets.  With 3 matches left to play the Under 13s are still in with a shout of making it to the League Finals day.

The Under 11s remain unbeaten in their division after beating Barry Wanderers. The Under 11s scored 316 in their 20 overs and in reply the Wanderers scored 218.

Week 7

The Under 13s made it 3 wins on the trot with an away win at Penarth. Penarth won the toss and chose to bat, but it was Sully who had the better start as Tom Edwards took a wicket with the first ball of the innings.   Another 2 wickets fell quickly and Penarth were 12 for 3.  Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and Penarth were finally bowled out for 65 in the final over. There were 2 wickets each for Tom Edwards and Luke Sylvester and one each for Alex Langrish, Emma Davies, Harri Edwards and Adam Sylvester.

Sully’s reply didn’t start particularly well as 3 wickets were lost with only 7 runs on the board.  However, they were the only wickets to fall and the target of 66 was reached in the 13th over.   Tom Edwards and Alex Langrish were not out at the end on 29 and 12 respectively.

The Under 15s played Lisvane away and it was disappointing that only 9 players took to the field for the second league match in a row.   It was always going to be difficult playing the match with two players less and so it proved.  Lisvane scored 135 for 7 off their 20 overs. Tom Edwards took 2 wickets and there was a wicket each for  Cameron Sleeth, Tom Johnson, Sam Shelley and Alex Langrish. In reply Sully were all out for 77. Cameron Sleeth scored 38 not out which included 8 boundaries.

The Under 11s game against Dinas Powys was rained off.

Week 6

The Under 13s played Radyr at Burnham Avenue and came away with a very good win.  Radyr batted first and scored 105 for 1off their 20 overs. Although only one wicket was taken the Sully bowling was good all the way through the Radyr innings.  Harri Edwards took the only wicket to fall with the good figures of 3-1-5-1. Sully’s reply started cautiously and the runs were hard to come by off the bat, although the number of wides conceded by Radyr helped the run chase.  The runs did come a bit more freely later in the innings so much so that the target was achieved with 2 and a half overs left to bowl. Tom Edwards and Adam Sylvester were not out at the end on 25 and 23 respectively.

The Under 11s played Pentyrch at home in a match between two teams who were unbeaten.  However, it was Sully who remained unbeaten at the end of the match. Pentyrch scored 227 for 7 off their 20 overs whilst Sully scored 244 for 4 to win by 17 runs.

The Under 15s match at Creigiau was called off due to the weather.

Some of the junior players at the club have also been chosen to play representative cricket this season. They are Adam Sylvester (Wales & Cardiff & the Vale U11s), Emma Davies (Wales & C&V U13 Girls), Tom Edwards (C&V U13s), Alex Langrish (C&V U12s), Harri Edwards (C&V U11s) and Aaron Arthur (C&V U10s).  Congratulations and well done to them all.

Week 5

The Under 15s entertained Cardiff Gymkhana at Burnham Avenue and lost a game they should have won. The Cardiff side were bowled out for 90 off just 15 of the 20 overs available. Tom Edwards took 3 wickets and Alex Langrish and Scott McMillan took 2 each. Sully’s reply started very well with 51 on the board after 9 overs before Tom Johnson was run out for 10. Cameron Sleeth then had to retire on 37 not out after which two wickets were quickly lost.  Sully were still favourites to win as they only required 10 to win off the last 3 overs with wickets in hand, however it wasn’t to be as the Sully reply finished 1 run short on 89.

The Under 15’s played their second game of the week away to Cowbridge in the second round of the Welsh Cup.  Cowbridge batted first and scored 201 for 2 off their 20 overs. Two of their batsman, Wales U15 player Sam Wood and Chris Brace scored 51 and 50 respectively.  The target was a tall order for Sully but the team gave a good account of themselves in reaching 127 for 3 in their 20 overs. Alex Langrish 36 not out, Scott McMillan 29 not out and Cameron Sleeth with 26 were the principal scorers.

The U11s continued their good start to the season with a win over Penarth.  Penarth scored 219 off their 20 overs.  Ethan McInnery took 3 wickets. Sully scored 286 off their 20 overs with Adam Sylvester scoring 34 and Harri Edwards scoring 25

Week 4

The Under 13s started the junior week off with a 6 wicket win off the last ball away to Lisvane.  The home side batted first and scored 92 for 8 off their 20 overs. Tom Edwards and Emma Davies both took 2 wickets each.

Sully’s reply started well but then 2 wickets were lost in successive balls to leave the score at 18 for 2. Alex Langrish and Tom Edwards put on 55 runs  for the 3rd wicket before Alex Langrish was run out for 24 and soon after Tom Edwards had to retire on 31 not out. This left us requiring 11 runs off the last over to win. A couple of wides and a boundary helped the cause and the scores were tied with one ball left. Adam Sylvester managed to get bat on ball and the run and win was secured.

The Under 13s were in action again 2 days later in a Welsh Cup match against Penarth at a cold and blustery Burham Avenue.  Sully batted first and scored 118 for 3 off their 20 overs.  The principal scorers were Tom Edwards (32 no retired) and Adam Sylvester (31 no retired).  Penarth’s reply didn’t start well as they lost 2 wickets in the second over, but then they recovered until with 5 overs to go they started to lose wickets regularly and finished on 104 for 7. Tom Edwards finished with 4 overs 4 wickets for 5 runs. Sully will play Tondu in the next round.

The Under 15s were also in Welsh Cup action a day later when they took on Dinas Powys. Sully scored 134 for 5 off their 20 overs with Alex Langrish unbeaten on 32, Tom Edwards 30 and Reece Bennett 20. Dinas’ reply fell 23 runs short of Sully’s total as they finished on 111 for 2. Sully will play Cowbridge in the next round.

Week 3

The Under 11s finally got underway with an away win at Cowbridge.  The home side batted first and scored 182 off their 20 overs.  Sully's bowling was very good all the way through and the principal wicket takrs were Harri Edwards with 4, Adam Sylvester with 3 and Thane Baker with 2.

The batting followed in the same vein as the bowling, with only 2 wickets lost in a total of 290.  Adam Sylvester scored 35 not out, which included 7 boundaries, and there were good contributions from Ethan McInnery,  Ben Griffiths, Harri Edwards and Andrew Lewis.

Matches for the Under 13s and 15s were called off.

Week 2

The Under 15s got their season underway with a victory against the Welsh Asians in a match that went down to the last ball. The Welsh Asians batted first and scored 90 for 7 off their 20 overs. Rhys Bennett finished with the excellent figures of 4 overs 2 wickets for 5 runs and Emma Davies also took 2 wickets for 5 runs off her 2 overs.

Cameron Sleeth opened the batting for Sully and put the team in a strong position by scoring 35 not out at which point he had to retire.  Rhys Bennett scored 13 to round off a good all round performance. Going into the last over Sully required 2 runs to win, one of which they got off the first ball to go level, but then a wicket was lost and the winning runs eventually came off the last ball of the match courtesy of 4 leg byes which took the total to 94 for 4. Lee Jones finished on 19 not out.

The matches for the Under 11s and 13s were called off due to the weather.

Week 1

The Under 13s kicked off the junior season for the club in the Cardiff and the Vale Junior Cricket League with an away match against St Fagans.

St Fagans won the toss and decided to bat. However it was a great start for Sully as Tom Edwards with the first ball of the match dismissed the St Fagan's captain.  St Fagan's re-grouped and made good progress over the next few overs without losing any more wickets. Adam Sylvester then made a breakthrough by bowling Adam Keane for 17 runs. Sully's bowling was good and tight in this period with good contributions from all which slowed St Fagan’s down a bit. Luke Sylvester picked up the wicket of Pathmanathan for 25 and Scott McMillan got the fourth and final St Fagan's wicket as they finished on 107-4 in their 20 overs.

Sully made a good start to their reply with Scott McMillan hitting 2 boundaries before being bowled. Alex Langrish at the other end hit 3 boundaries before he too was bowled for 12. Sully then lost a third wicket and the runs had dried up a bit, with Sully requiring 72 runs off 10 overs to win. Tom Edwards and Adam Sylvester were making steady progress towards the St Fagan’s total until Tom Edwards was caught trying to hit over the top when he was on 26 with 42 runs required off 4 overs.  Adam Sylvester had a good go at it with a flurry of boundaries and played the best shot of the match when he hit the bowler back over his head for 6, but then he had to retire on 30 not out. In the end despite the best efforts of the team the chase ended up 8 runs short on 99-4.

Both the Under 11s and 15s first matches of the season were called off.
